I Suppose This Is Where It Ends

(noisedfisk)
Most of you (is anyone still reading, anyway?) probably already figured it out. So let’s make it official, it’s over. Several reasons, mainly:
- Time. Always the same excuse I guess, but I really am struggling. Also, I would like to use some of the time I put into noisedfisk for me. I’d especially like to work on my photos.
- Passion. Yes, I still love stuffs from up there. They are pure genius in my opinion. Icelandic music, Swedish design, Norwegian jazz, native heritage culture, … I love it all. It’s awesome. I’m just not so sure about the passion of sharing my discoveries. Talking about discoveries, it’s a bit hard to keep up…
- A last and nasty, sarcastic comment that made me throw in the towel. And other reasons but you’re not interested anyway.
I’m not the only one blogging on the subject. Others are doing it better than I ever did:
- I would particularly recommend lifeiscarbon, which cover exactly the same topics than noisedfisk, with more insight. I discovered this one recently, it’s brilliant. They also have people on site, can’t beat that.
- It’s A Trap, of course! Tons of content and a nice new design (lacks of pictures though).
- Absolute Noise
- A Pop Althing. Come on Stéphane, don’t give up…
- And also: Tiny Ways, Scandinavica, Iceland Eyes, The Iceland Report, Grapevine, and much, much more links that you can find in the archives.
Finally, I am not shutting noisedfisk down. It stays as is, you can even comment if you wish. If somebody is willing to continue this blog, I’d be glad to give it. Domain name, design, archives, everything. I would actually be more than happy to see noisedfisk go on.
On a side note that should have been a last post: Icelandic Airwaves Festival is upcoming! It’s gonna be awesome, as usual. Oh and múm released their new album, Go Go Smear The Poison Ivy. That too, is awesome. Go buy it now.
Bye, it was fun.

Blue Foundation’s Support To Ungdomshuset

Ungdomshuset, in Copenhagen, was an artists and activists squat since the 80s. In March of this year, the municipality decided to give it an end, evicted the occupants and destroyed the building.
Users and supporters have since protested, sometimes violently. At some point a support concert was organized, Blue Foundation participated, playing an unreleased song that I can’t get out of my head: Voices. The video is neat, too.
Update: This song is part of a mini-album called Dead People’s Choice.
Teitur: Faroese Pop

(Music, Faroe)

We don’t have much about Faroese and that’s a shame, because they have such a high cool people ratio over their population. So there…
Teitur is one of them. He has already released two albums, won a few music awards, opened for folk stars, enough to give this 30 year old’s name all its meaning (teitur means happy in Old Norse).
Teitur decided, for his third album, to drop big major (Universal), big recording studios, … and to sing in his native language. The interesting result is Káta hornið, released in Scandinavia only by the local label Tutl.

Our beloved Múm has pulled off a fantastic new track. Listen to “Moon Pulls” at Kwadratuur jukebox. The rumour has it that the track will be removed from the service shortly, so be quick!
Also Múm have updated their Myspace profile, with videos and other goods. For example, this documentation of the composing process. Gotta love them!
Human Chocolate

Human chocolate is a project split from Aprox.. While Aprox. used to be the indie pop project with a twist of IDM and Human Chocolate NOT EXIST, now Human Chocolate is the indie electro pop project, and Aprox. is the weird IDM project. Or… something like this!Since you probably know neither one, Human Chocolate as well as Aprox. are projects of the same dude, Julius from Helsinki Finland. This guy is a real wizard in singing, beatboxing, glitch beats & tricks, probably all musical equipment, etcetra etcetra, with his outstanding live performances. A true multitalent!
This person is also the organizer of the free electronic music festival Sähköjänis, held in Finland annually at the late summer. Tons of indie music, all for absolutely free! So make sure to pay a visit if you happen to be around at the time! More information likely to come.
