Friends Of The Random Summer is a compilation of múm music, created by Paulo Veira and organized by the Friends Of The Random Summer mailing-list. The purpose is to collect hard to get releases and other obscure stuff into a simple 3 CD compilation.
This fan-compilation traces múm’s prolific career from 1998 until the release of “Yesterday was dramatic, today is ok”. These 3 CD’s try to show the many facets of múm, all the remixes they have done and the many collaborations in which the band took part. The compilation represents not only múm’s music and work, but also the fertile Icelandic music scene. In it you see represented the hard work of many people and many labels like Kitchenmotors, Vertical Form, One Little Indian, Morr Music, Badtaste, Monika Records and Planet µ. This compilation should not only makes you discover múm’s earlier work, but also generates interest about the releases on all these labels.

For server space and bandwith matters, the tracks are encoded in Shorten format. This is not a lossy compression, so once the tracks are decoded, you’ll get original full quality .wav files. If for some reason you cannot download or extract the files, go on the forums, múm section, to find more help. Some, including me, are willing to burn and ship the CDs for a small fee (CD-R, shipping, …).
