Efterklang

Efterklang I don’t feel like writing about those concerts given by mainstream bands all over the world, ’cause I don’t really care. Even if Björk did a gig in Tokyo. Don’t blame me, I’d rather write about a band which is way different from the indie-pop bands I’m into at the moment. The band is Efterklang, from Denmark, and I just received their album, Tripper, even though it was released in late 2004.

Tripper is amazing and delightful. Bands who can marry electronica with acoustic instrumentation are not so many. You’ve got Múm, obviously, and you’ve got Sigur Rós as well, and some others… Similarly, this album manages to create a whole landscape full of emotions, shaped by recurring piano melodies, by trumpets, drums and, obviously, some electronic clicks and bumps. And male vs. female vocals, or even choirs. By the way, I read somewhere that the band invited a greenlandic choir to sing on a couple of their songs (greenlandic singers are more and more fashionable these days…). Maybe that’s what makes this album so magic. So please, listen to Tripper while you read Miss Smilla’s Feeling For Snow. That will be an experience, believe me.

Efterklang’s Tripper is on the Leaf Label.
Download Step Aside, you won’t regret it.

well, it did took you some time to discover this amazing act. However, to miss for the lost time, here’s some stuff to do good:
    1. After releasing Tripper they re-released their debut EP called Springer.

    2. They released some great videos, these guys really know to put up a show. You can get these (along with Sigur Ros’ ballet video and others) at:

    3. Posteverything.com just released t-shirts with the art work of their albums, nice sutff.

If any one reading this have a chance to catch them, don’t miss it for anything, they are told to be amzing, second to none but, maybe, Sigur Ros.

    Enjoy.
