New Album for Under Byen
2005.10.07
“Unique poetic rock and pop with folky, jazzy and classical elements and sensitive female vocals. Ethereal acoustic soundscapes done with a wide range of instruments.”
- Lars Kjær Dideriksen
That says it all if you don’t know yet Under Byen, a 8 member and 2 drum sets danish band. You have to listen to their last 2 albums, Kyst (1999) and Det Er Mig Der Holder Træerne Sammen (“I Am The One Keeping the Trees Together”, 2002). Yes, it’s in Danish and yes, Henriette Sennenvaldt actually sings in Danish. But you won’t care because you would have a hard time to get Henriette’s poem and you will be busy enough with the beautiful melodies (that’s a disc review classic, but I’m not overexagerating on this one).
Three years since their last album, time for a new one: Henriette and her fellows are at work. No release date for now but the wait should be not too long.
Meanwhile Under Byen will have a couple of concerts in Europe. Don’t miss this one, November 28, in Gent, Belgium, with Hanne Hukkelberg! A promise for a great night. And lucky be the one that have seen them lately with Efterklang!
Lars has everything you want to know on his great Under Byen fansite. There’s also a nice official website.
Update - From Lars: New Under Byen album due in March 2006, first single Samme Stof Som Stof in January!
