If you are around New York City or plan a trip there, don’t forget to stop by Scandinavia House, the headquarters of The American-Scandinavian Foundation. The ASF, an American non-profit organization that works to build cultural and educational ties between the United States and Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden. Scandinavia House offers a wide range of programs, including art, design, and historical exhibitions as well as film series, concerts, lectures, symposia, language courses, and children’s programs that illuminate the contemporary vitality of the Nordic countries. Designed by architect James Stewart Polshek, Scandinavia House opened to the public in 2000.
The program for this summer includes an expo about Finnish architecture, a selection of Danish and Norwegian Noir movies and several jazz concerts with Eivind Opsvik, Anne Mette Iversen, Raoul Björkenheim, Lage Lund.

A few months ago, Under Byen released their third album, Under Byen – Samme Stof Som Stof. And once again, it’s brilliant.
If you missed them at the Roskilde Festival, you have another chance at the Århus International Jazzfestival (July 18), or – how original! – on a DFDS Seaways ferryboat, August 23 between Copenhagen and Oslo and August 24 on the way back to Denmark. Under Byen will also play at the Forum, August 25 in Copenhagen.
